Green with Envy!
Going Green with Cabinets Salvaged from an Upstate NY Estate
When Walter and Mary Kreidel
decided to remodel their kitchen on
Long Island New York, they were in
quite a pickle. How could they afford
all of the labor that was necessary to
remodel their kitchen, and still afford
high quality cabinets?
They did not want to compromise the
quality of the job, but were still way out
of budget because of the number of
cabinets they would need for their
kitchen remodel. "We were looking at a
price range in the tens of thousands of
dollars on cabinets alone."said Walter.
After many weeks of research, and
disappointing visits to kitchen
showrooms, Walter's sister told them
of Green Demolitions in Norwalk
Connecticut.
"High Quality Cabinets can be Affordable"
The basis of this company is to take
cabinets and other architectural elements
from homes and estates and to offer them
for sale to home owners and contractors
a fraction of the price that they would
retail for if they were bought new.
The Best Part?
The company is a not for profit that
supports the outreach programs of AAA
(All Addicts Anonymous) which is a twelve
step program designed to help any
recovering addict.
Can I Design My Kitchen?
Although Mary Kreidell has no backround
in kitchen design, she was attentive in the
research and design of almost every
element in her new kitchen. From actually
measuring her existing space to making
sure her "green" cabinets would fit. She
added the diamond shaped muntins on the
glass doors, and repeated the design on
the windows in the adjacent room a bit of
green stained glass adds some color and
ties all of the pieces together.

The next step would be to find a kitchen
specialist who could install the cabinets,
and provide the Kreidells with matching
custom cabinets to create a seamless
transition from old to new.
After interviewing many contractors, they
decided on Long Island Kitchen and Bath,
a company that specializes in unique
remodels, and has the experience to make
their project come together.
